At Pure Candles we want you to enjoy our candles, here are a few tips to get the best from them.

Keep wick trimmed to 1/4", if the wick is too long the candle will smoke. If smoking does occur, extinguish the candle, trim the wick and re-light.
Try and keep your candles out of a draught. If the flame is flickering there is a draught and your candle will burn unevenly or drip.
When you first burn your CONTAINER candle, it should burn for at least one hour for each inch of its diameter (eg burn a 3" diameter candle for AT LEAST three hours). This will maintain subsequent even burning and prevent tunnelling.
The SOLID BEESWAX candles should burn until the wax pool reaches 1/4" from the edge of the candle. They should not burn any further or the wax edge could collapse. Keep the wick centred and to prevent candles from tunnelling they should be burnt for at least one hour for each inch of its diameter. However if the wax looks as though it will melt through the side of the candle, extinguish and allow the wax to harden before re-lighting.
The best way to extinguish a container or pillar candle is to dip the wick into the wax pool with a wick dipper or other non-flammable object, then straightening it to allow the wick to cool. The wick will then be primed for next time. Taper candles should use a candle snuffer.
